Welcome to Somers New York
Somers NY is in the Northeast section of Westchester County, bordering Putnam County to the North. Somers is primarily a residential community just over an hour from NYC. Somers experienced explosive growth in the 1980s and 1990s upon the building of large facilities on the borders of town by both IBM and Pepsi. Somers has a population of 18,346 and covers 32.3 square miles. Somers' rich history includes its nickname of "the cradle of the American Circus," which is a tribute to original resident Hachaliah Bailey of Barnum & Bailey fame. Somers is well known for its parks, including Muscoot Farm and Lasdon Park and Arboretum and is a wonderful family friendly town with abundant recreational opportunities. There is a highly regarded central school district in Somers, which includes fours schools, one K-2, one 3-5, one 6-8 and a 9-12 high school.
